Higher Education SPROUT Project

    Ming Chuan University promotes students' ability in learning and exploration, deepens students' basic skills, connects with society, and enhances international mobility through innovative teaching and learning integrated with application. 

    To implement this Teaching Innovation Project, MCU submitted six strategic items: Develop Innovative Teaching Mode, Cultivate Students'Basic Abilities, Establish Cross-disciplinary Learning Environment, Cultivate Talents for Core Industries, Innovative Entrepreneurship Ecological Environment, and Cultivate Students' Employability. The University promoted 21 projects granted MOE Teaching Practice Research Program subsidy to enhance students' abilities in logical and computation thinking and program design (69% of total student body at MCU took those courses), for students to participate in MOST Undergraduate Student Research Program (Top 3 nationwide), and advanced self-learning ability and research energy. MCU was ranked No. 1 of all universities in Taiwan for current students participating in off-campus competitions and papers published in 2019 by Global Views Monthly. Concurrently, MCU also completed the implementation of off-campus and industrial internship for current students (44% off-campus internship participation rate) and established Occupational Competency Standard and Student Learning Outcome Review System to implement the teaching quality PDCA mechanism loop. 

    For the Enhancing Global Mobility Project, MCU submitted five strategic items: Establish International Learning Environment, Enhance Teaching of Multiple Foreign Languages, Deepen English-instructed Specialized Degree Programs, Deepen Faculty Members' International Participation, and Expand Students' Worldviews. Ming Chuan has achievements in expanding international education by the number of exchange students (1,438 students), increasing number of overseas internship students yearly (320 students), and good performance in international competitions. 

    Public Nature of Higher Education Project, MCU submitted five strategic items: Complete Admission Mechanism for Disadvantaged Students, Complete Consulting Mechanism for Disadvantaged Students, Fundraising Mechanism for Student Financial Aid, Enhance Faculty Members' Quality and Quantity, and Public Information Regarding School Operations. The completed aid mechanism and fundraising mechanism for disadvantaged students have collected NTD 5 million for designated accounts. The enhancing of teaching quantity and quality for faculty members has reduced the teaching load and the ratio of faculty members to students. Establishing a public platform through new media for announcing university affairs and financial information effectively displays MCU's distinctive features. 

    In the Completing Social Responsibility Project, MCU submitted four strategic items: Complete Community Service, Enhanced Technology Integration and Local Enterprise Connection. Ming Chuan assisted Shilin Business District, got involved in long-term care service in Guishan District, implemented disaster resistant and sustainable community measures, promoted industrial innovation and added value in Kinmen to carry out its social responsibilities by applying academic professional skills.
