Summary and highlights of goal achievement (2023-2024)



The second phase of the Higher Education Sprout Project aims to cultivate students with three core competencies: medical humanities, civic responsibility, and professional expertise, alongside a spirit of service. The notable outcomes across four key areas are as follows:



 



Implement Teaching Innovation




  1. Cultivating Smart Healthcare Talent and Establishing Digital Application Programs:

    Partnerships established with Microsoft and Pfizer for talent cultivation programs. Achieved 100% completion rate of programming courses by students before graduation. Students won first and second place in national electronic design and smart innovation competitions. Launched interdisciplinary Mini-Program in "Digital Applications" in the 2024 academic year. Undergraduate research projects reached 48 and 81 in the 2022 and 2023 academic years, respectively.

  2. Innovative Teaching and Faculty Development:

    In 2023-2024, 18 faculty members were recognized among the top 2% of global scientists. Thirty-five applications were submitted under the "University Teaching Practice Research Program," with a 46% approval rate. Sixty-six educators participated in the Ministry of Education's interdisciplinary training program, with four certified as coaches and 34 earning EMI teaching certifications.

  3. Significant Progress in Interdisciplinary Talent Development:

    In the 2023 academic year, 110 students completed interdisciplinary courses, 14 completed double degree, and 10 completed minors. In 2024, 30 Mini-Programs and six professional programs were introduced. A total of 2,588 students participated in industry internships,



Fulfilling Social Responsibility




  1. Sustainable Development of Resilient Campuses and Healthy Cultures:

    Over 60 activities were held between 2023-2024, attracting 2,000 participants and focusing on elderly health promotion and psychological support. Permanent community care stations served 870 individuals, with disaster education extending into schools and communities, achieving a 92% satisfaction rate.

  2. International Cooperation for Social Welfare and Responsibility:

    Through international collaboration and local empowerment, students participated in volunteer and medical aid efforts in Tuvalu to improve residents' health and foster cross-cultural communication skills. Locally, services such as vision screening, oral health checks, and medical support reached 700 disadvantaged individuals, with over 500 student participants, enhancing professionalism and social responsibility while promoting the integration of health and culture.



Industry-Academia Collaboration



Holistic Development of Healthcare Professionals and Smart Medical Education:

Collaborated with Microsoft to advance smart healthcare education. Established Ching Shan Biomedicine, conducted 66 practical courses and company visits, enhanced internship quality assurance mechanisms, and improved employment rates. Organized 29 sustainability-related lectures, with 80 students earning sustainable energy management certifications. Hosted 31 international events, with 120 participants engaged in overseas internships. Forty-six faculty members obtained EMI certifications, and specialized programs for international students were established. The Dementia Research Center provided services to 3,000 people, developed innovative promotion models, received international awards, and advanced global action plans and professional training.



 



Promoting Higher Education Accessibility




  1. Financial Support and Academic Assistance:

    In 2023-2024, tuition waivers and scholarships were provided. A total of 625 students participated in the "Safe and Empowering Classroom" and "Learning Partner Programs," achieving a 60% academic improvement rate and significantly reducing dropout risks.

    Initiatives supporting indigenous and gender equality resulted in 390 indigenous students receiving counseling. Life education courses and gender equality seminars engaged 1,008 participants with a 92% satisfaction rate, enhancing students’ core competencies and multicultural awareness.

  2. Career Counseling and Development:

    Fifty career activities were organized, attracting 500 participants with a satisfaction rate exceeding 94%, effectively assisting students from disadvantaged backgrounds in planning their future career paths.
