Summary and Highlights of Goal Achievements
The summary and highlights of the goal achievements for the first phase (2023–2024) of the second period of our university’s Higher Education Sprout Project are as follows:
1. Achievements and Highlights in Enhancing Teaching Innovation:
(1) Introduced interdisciplinary micro-programs in digital technology in 2023, with undergraduate enrollment rates increasing from 2% in 2023 to 31% in 2024.
(2) University-wide enrollment rates in interdisciplinary courses increased from 31% in 2023 to 35% in 2024.
(3) Enrollment in STEAM and humanities courses surpassed 85% among undergraduates.
(4) Successfully integrated internal teaching and research databases to establish an autonomous learning platform (https://bdrap.dila.edu.tw/).
(5) The ratio of students participating in international mobility programs reached 5%. Key initiatives included:
Hosting the "Humanistic Buddhism International Youth Meditation Camp" in 2023, attracting 70 elite students from 15 countries.
Launching an English-taught "Summer Workshop on Classical Chinese Translation" in 2024, attended by 18 graduate students from domestic and international institutions, enhancing academic exchanges and global perspectives.
2. Achievements and Highlights in Fulfilling Social Responsibility:
(1)Over 80% of undergraduates participated in social engagement courses.
(2)Conducted 51 environmental education sessions using on-campus facilities, raising awareness of sustainability among 1,569 participants (733 in 2023; 836 by the end of November 2024).
(3)Organized practical workshops for the Satoyama North area of Taiwan, connecting coastal farmers and promoting agricultural transformation with 239 participants. In 2024, the university joined the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative.
(4)Held 8 Life Care and Spiritual Counseling Workshops in collaboration with Jinshan Hospital, educating 226 residents on patients' rights and end-of-life care concepts.
(5)Provided public access to the CBETA Online Digital Buddhist Canon(https://cbeta-rp.dila.edu.tw/) , used over 5 million times annually across 20 countries, enhancing digitalized Buddhist studies and providing new research tools.
3. Achievements and Highlights in Industry-Academia Collaboration:
(1)Conducted 14 domestic industry-academia collaboration projects in 2023 and 2024, including:
8 projects under the Buddhist System Collaboration Plan (Digital Preservation and Application of Buddhist Scriptures).
6 projects under the Secular Society Collaboration Plan (Social Practice), involving 31 students.
(2)Initiated an international project in collaboration with the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at the University of Pune to co-edit a Brahmi-Han-Tibetan Dictionary, involving 3 students and improving problem-solving and practical skills.
4. Achievements and Highlights in Enhancing Higher Education Accessibility:
(1)The ratio of economically and culturally disadvantaged students supported increased from 25% in 2023 to 40% in 2024.
(2)Organized 4 indigenous cultural events with 80 participants.
(3)Issued scholarships to reduce tuition fees for monastic students, ensuring equitable access to education:
Granted NT$5,664,260 to 197 students in 2023.
Granted NT$4,964,620 to 199 students in 2024.
(4)Disclosed university development plans, Higher Education Sprout Project updates, and financial information on the official website with regular updates for public accountability.
5. Achievements and Highlights in Promoting Institutional Research (IR):
Conducted two IR studies annually in 2023 and 2024, implementing iterative strategy adjustments based on feedback from student learning outcomes.
