DYU ushers in a big boost for local businesses and technology, transforming it into a highly acclaimed government project in central Taiwan

This power box, combined with the IOT system designed by students and faculty of the Department of Information Engineering, can help enterprises conduct Carbon Footprint Verification (CFV).
Celebrated as an enterprise partner, DYU actively seeks every opportunity to engage with industry associations, including joining the Tri-county Research Industrial Alliance (CCNRIA) of Taichung, Changhua, and Nantou. In 2023, the R&D base had at least 62 collaborative projects that involve local industry and business. Its funding has reached NTD$29,000,000, of which three proposals benefitted from the academics to promote the valuable innovation projects of local Tec-industrial business, and a total of 33 enterprises have already been working on research and developments. These inventions are to be patented subsequently; just as the ongoing review of seven derivative patents, four have been endorsed by the government sector, such as SBIR and NSC.
Cooperation between industry and academia made it possible for Taiwan's local businesses to become greener and move towards a circular economy

The Department of Medicinal Plants and Food Health Sciences in DYU built industry cooperation with Sheng Cyuan Hua Bio-Tech—Co. to develop rice cosmetic products.
Working in tandem with Sheng Cyuan Hua Bio-Tech Co., Professor Jen-Chieh Tsai from the Department of Medicinal Plants and Food Health Sciences at DYU and his research team developed a wide range of cosmetic product that created a new niche for the agricultural industry, as well as reducing the carbon footprint during production by using local ingredients.
Vice President Shih Ying-lung pointed out that DYU is a comprehensive university that is heavily focused on cooperations with the industry. In response to local business demand, DYU built seven distinctive R&D bases, with faculty members leading students in industry-cooperation programs under the German-style apprenticeship system.
In response to the SDGs vision of industry cooperation, college students from the Philippines visited DYU for our cutting-edge lithium battery recycling technology

The college of engineering at DYU invests in lithium battery recycling technology research, and has won awards for innovative inventions.
Five years ago, Dean Ching-Hua Lee in the College of Engineering at the DYU developed a technique for recycling lithium batteries, then an emerging business of processing used electric vehicle batteries. The research team won two innovation patents and a technology transfer. It has also won gold medals for two consecutive years at the WiC World Innovation and Invention Contest in South Korea. Their efforts has gained worldwide attention from numerous media outlets, and even attract Filipino college students to visit and ask for guidance.
With this technique the research team received a generous donation worth NT$1,000,000 from DIAMONCHEM INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD. The laboratory recovered valuable metals in batteries through wet metallurgy, regenerating resources, while keeping the environmental toll to a minimum.
DYU Touted as Taiwan's First SDGs On-Campus Practicing Field

Da-Yeh University proudly presented its Campus as a practicing field for SDG goals, and established an alliance with the neighboring primary and high schools, sharing a unified vision for a more sustainable future.
DYU has recently announced the upgrade of its R&D base to foster collaboration between industry and academia, deepen their linkage with SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), and to establish the first physical SDGs campus practicing field in Taiwan. Under this initiative, it is planned to set up five SDGs practicing fields on campus targeted at water recycling, carbon inventory, clean energy, along with earth-friendly agricultural production. These areas will help to create a physical environment for secondary schools to develop teaching materials and lesson plans, and to cultivate awareness of sustainable lifestyles.
Moreover, DYU has taken every possible measure to expand on the campaigning of SDG-related events. DYU is proud to have partnered with the National Education Department and 72 elementary and high schools to establish the Greater Changhua "Sustainability Strategic Alliance." This alliance promotes sustainability awareness and science education across the community and school curriculum. DYU has been opening its campus for tours and visits for the "Water Recycling and Reuse" campus practice field since 2023, and has successfully conducted 15 courses and workshops.
The SDGs lecture series was awarded the "2023 TSAA Taiwan Sustainability Action Award." The program, combined with campus lectures, makes up a STEAM micro-program designed to deep people’s understanding of sustainability through a lively learning environment.
