2023-2024 Summary of Achievements and Highlights



I. Teaching Innovation and Advancement: Core Plan 1

School Development Features – Self-Directed Learning, Lifelong Learning, and Residential Education




  1. Self-Directed Learning:


    • Since the 2022 academic year, the Self-Directed Learning Experimental Education Program has been implemented.

    • All departments now follow a dual-track system, offering the new Self-Directed Learning Experimental Education framework alongside existing curriculum requirements.



  2. Lifelong Learning:

    • Starting in the 2024 academic year, the Silver Generation Learning Program was introduced, providing flexible course planning for middle-aged and senior students.



  3. Residential Education:

    • The residential tutor system has been implemented to enhance life-based courses.

    • Initiatives include:

      • Work-Study programs for campus co-management.

      • The Awakening Learning Significance life design program.



    • Since the 2023 academic year, the Life Design and Reflection Week has been held during the 10th week of each semester, with classes suspended for school-wide participation.









II. Teaching Innovation and Advancement: Core Plan 2

International Learning – Creating a Global Campus and Enhancing International Mobility




  1. International Enrollment and Learning Exchange:


    • To attract outstanding international students, particularly from Southeast Asia, the school emphasizes fields such as Buddhist art and Oriental humanities.

    • Full scholarships and on-campus work opportunities are provided to support recruitment.

    • English-taught programs have been introduced, resulting in the enrollment of 26 international freshmen in the 2024 academic year.



  2. Sister School Exchanges:

    • Collaborations have been established with several international institutions, including:

      • University of Castilla-La Mancha (Cuenca Campus), Spain.

      • Sapporo City University, Japan.

      • Kinki University, Japan.











III. Industry-Academia Collaboration: Core Plan 3

Industry Linkages and Interdisciplinary Integration




  1. Craft Academy:


    • A campus-based industry-academia learning cluster has been developed, comprising 30 thematic workshops (Craft Academy and Art Village combined).

    • Spaces and facilities have been fully prepared and equipped.



  2. Art Village:

    • The Art Village has been completed and has hosted outstanding artists for residencies.

    • Between 2023 and 2024, 11 artists from six countries (Italy, the Netherlands, France, the U.S., Japan, and South Korea) participated.



  3. Interdisciplinary Integration and Industry Linkages:

    • Students are encouraged to cross-register for courses in other departments, completing at least one interdisciplinary course module.

    • Campus spaces have been integrated, and school-level practice areas have been established.

    • The Innovative Co-Learning Talent Cultivation Program has been actively promoted.



  4. Digital Environment:

    • A comprehensive cloud-based learning environment has been established.

    • Digital micro-courses have been developed to facilitate practical learning.









IV. Fulfilling Social Responsibility: Core Plan 4

Regional Revitalization – University Social Responsibility (USR)




  1. Implementation of three seed-stage USR projects:


    • Revitalization of the Dalu Collapse Shanshuilan Ancient Trail.

    • Artistic transformation of a century-old stone house village.

    • Community care initiatives utilizing drone technology.



  2. Establishment of three off-campus regional revitalization practice bases to support local industries:

    • Manman Mountain House.

    • Travel Creative School.

    • Shanshuilan Base.









V. Enhancing Higher Education Public Value




  1. A special talent development program for economically disadvantaged students provides financial aid.

  2. The Indigenous Students Resource Center has been established to support indigenous students academically and promote indigenous culture.







VI. Key Achievements and Highlights




  1. The school has cultivated a friendly, self-directed learning environment that respects individual differences, empowering students to discover themselves and redefine the meaning of learning.

  2. The Craft Academy and Art Village learning clusters provide comprehensive opportunities for hands-on practice through interdisciplinary integration, innovative execution, and cooperative learning.

  3. Customizable learning systems, including the Self-Directed Learning Experimental Education Program, the Silver Generation Learning Program, and the Awakening Learning Significance Life Design Program, demonstrate significant potential. These initiatives position the school as a model of excellence in "boutique-style university" education.
