2024 Achievement Summary and Highlights
Feng Chia University is dedicated to cultivating students with the innovative capabilities necessary for driving industrial upgrades, transformation, and sustainable development. The university has fully embraced an educational model centered on project-based learning, incorporating framework from MIT CDIO and Stanford Design Thinking. Through the iSchool initiative, information technology and artificial intelligence are seamlessly integrated into colleges and departments. By employing innovative academic programs and competitions as incentives, we foster students’ cross-disciplinary skills and problem-solving abilities. We continuously allocate resources to campus beautification and space optimization, thereby establishing the new “Virtuosi Campus.” Furthermore, we are expanding collaborations with internationally renowned universities to co-establish academic programs and introduce global models of innovative teaching. The highlights of the project are as follows:
- Emphasizing “learning by doing,” we systematically cultivate students’ creative thinking, knowledge integration, hands-on skills, and ability to solve complex problems. For the 2023 academic year, the freshman registration rate is 96.84%, ranking second among private universities. The registration rate for the daytime bachelor’s program is 99.70%, and the student retention rate is 95.25%, ranking first among private universities. Our students demonstrate outstanding performance, with their achievements listed as follows:
- In the 2023 Macronix Golden Silicon Awards, our student team won the Gold Award and 300,000 NTD, standing out among 284 teams. In 2024, another student team from our university won the Bronze Award.
- In the 2024 National College and University Information Application Service Innovation Competition, our student team won first place in the AUO Smart Space and ESG Application Group, second place in the Education AI Group, and third place in the AI Tools Application Group.
- Students have won awards at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference for four consecutive years.
- In the 2024 Mobile Application Innovation Contest, students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science won first place for their application, “Small Knowledge.” (小博識).
- DIGITIMES and the National Development Council co-organized the Taiwan Generative AI Applications Hackathon. The student team “Gogoro Smart Scooter Master of None” won first place out of 61 teams, earning a prize of 30,000 NTD.
- 2024 European Innovation Academy Competition selected Top Team.
- The Ministry of Education and the National Science and Technology Council co-guided the CyberSecurity competition, including the 3rd edition in 2023 and the 4th edition in 2024. Female student teams from our university won first place in the university category of the Girl in CyberSecurity Competition.
- In the latest rankings by Global Views Monthly, Feng Chia University has distinguished itself by challenging the dominance of medical schools, securing the fifth position in the private university category. Remarkably, it is the only non-medical institution among the top five. Furthermore, Feng Chia University excels in internationalization, ranking third, just behind National Taiwan University and National Chengchi University, which hold the first and second positions, respectively.
- During the 2023 university anniversary, Feng Chia University successfully launched its inaugural single-stage hybrid small research rocket at the “Short-term Research Sounding Rocket Launch Site” in Xuhai, Pingtung. This notable achievement represents the fifth successful research rocket launch from our country in this domain, underscoring the university’s commitment to innovation and technical excellence. In 2024, Feng Chia University successfully upgraded the oxidizer for the propulsion engine to a liquid form, significantly increasing thrust. This enhancement, along with optimized rocket electronic control systems, ground support systems, and telemetry data acquisition systems, culminated in the successful launch of 'SHSR-Aero2.'
- Office of Sustainability link internal and external resources, aiming for green sustainability and climate neutrality.
- In the 2024 QS World University Rankings for Sustainability, Feng Chia University has distinguished itself as the leading private institution. Additionally, the university received the 2023 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award from the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, securing third place among private universities for Excellence in University Social Responsibility.
- The Board of Directors has allocated resources to improve the educational environment, enhance teaching quality, and continuously optimize innovative learning spaces.
- In the 2024 Global Views Monthly“Survey on Employers’ Favorite College Graduates,” Feng Chia University ranked first among private universities. The 2024 University President’s Educational Performance Peer Review Survey by “Cheers” also recognized Feng Chia University as the top private university. These awards show the university’s excellent educational performance and the recognition it has received.
