Key Highlights



Through the Higher Education Sprout Project, our university has achieved significant outcomes in innovation, internationalization, sustainability, and smart governance.



Key achievements include the enhancement of teaching practices, outstanding student performance in international and national competitions, the promotion of resource sharing, and the improvement of career development programs.

These efforts have not only strengthened the competitiveness of students and faculty but also promoted greater international engagement and sustainable growth. The highlights of the project are detailed as follows:





Subproject 1: Cross-Disciplinary Innovative Learning – Establishing the Kainan Smart Campus



This project effectively enhanced teaching, curriculum, instructional materials, and learning innovation, achieving key performance indicators for teaching advancement. Between 2023 and 2024, 26 faculty teaching development communities were established to strengthen cross-disciplinary and bilingual teaching capabilities, promote PBL (Problem-Based Learning), and integrate AI technology into diverse teaching methods.




  • Teacher Development: Held 11 teacher training workshops to refine instructional skills.

  • Curriculum Integration: Combined 13 key interdisciplinary credit programs to meet societal demands in various STEAM fields and introduced 11 micro-credit courses.

  • Policy Improvement: Amended the guidelines for implementing self-directed learning.

  • Student Achievements:

    • Students from the Tourism Department won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze at the 2023 JLCC Jeju International Culinary Challenge and 4 silver medals at the 2024 JUCC Jeju International Culinary Competition.

    • Business Administration students earned the championship and third place at the 2023 National Marketing Decision-Making Competition.

    • Entrepreneurship students organized the 2024 National Entrepreneurship Case Competition.





Subproject 2: Enhancing International Exchange and Strengthening Global Competitiveness



Between 2023 and 2024, the university hosted 58 international exchange-related activities, enabling 127 students to participate in overseas exchange programs and welcoming 72 students from partner schools to Taiwan.




  • Bilingual and Cross-Cultural Environment: Local students were encouraged to integrate into a bilingual learning environment on campus, providing diverse opportunities for overseas exchanges, study, and internships.

  • Support for International Students: Cross-cultural courses and activities were conducted to create a friendly campus environment for international students.



Subproject 3: Strengthening Competency Counseling and Enhancing Core Skills




  • Psychological and Career Support:


    • Conducted 31 mental health promotion activities with a total of 456 participants.

    • Held 75 support activities for students with disabilities, involving 558 participants.

    • Organized 8 career counseling activities with 313 participants and a campus job fair attended by 386 students.

    • Overall satisfaction rates for these activities reached the target of 82%.



  • Club Activities: Introduced 30 specialized club courses, produced 6 multilingual recruitment videos, and invited international students to participate in club activities, fostering an inclusive campus culture.

  • Competition Achievements:

    • Won awards in national competitions, including the 2023 National Cheerleading Championship, the 113th National University Club Evaluation, and the 2024 Global City Image Ambassador and Miss Global City Pageant.





Subproject 4: Promoting Aesthetic Education and Sustainable Living



Through enriched, practical courses, teachers guided students in learning through hands-on experience, achieving the integration of theory and practice.




  • Sustainability Activities: Held 87 activities on sustainable development with a total of 4,885 participants.

  • Talent Certification: Trained 260 individuals for sustainability-related certifications.

  • Cultural Exchange: Organized an international exchange on local culinary aesthetics and developed 6 distinctive local souvenir products.



Subproject 5: Innovative Design Model for Remote Tutoring



Between 2023 and 2024, 53 students participated in this initiative, successfully introducing digital learning and AR/VR immersive teaching to 25 elementary school classes.




  • Teaching Materials: Developed 8 interdisciplinary digital teaching materials to enhance students' integrated academic abilities.

  • Teacher Development: Conducted 2 digital technology workshops to strengthen teachers’ digital teaching skills and established a teacher exchange platform to promote urban-rural resource sharing.



Subproject 6: Establishing Institutional Research Systems and Smart Governance



Between 2023 and 2024, the university established an institutional research information platform to analyze student data, providing a foundation for decision-making in smart governance.




  • Resource and Facility Enhancements: Upgraded teaching facilities by building a demonstration kitchen, a live broadcasting studio, a metaverse classroom, and acquiring drone equipment.

  • Academic Collaboration: Invited six experienced institutional research scholars to discuss topics related to university governance and organized 8 related events.
