Asia University Secures First Place Nationally in the Ministry of Education's “2023 International Design Competition”



The Ministry of Education's award ceremony for the "Encouragement for Students to Participate in International Art and Design Competitions for the Year 112" was held on December 22nd, 2023 at the National Library in Taipei. Asia University, with 82 participants and 33 entries, garnering the major design awards such as the German Red Dot Award, the German iF Award, and the Annual Award from the New York Art Directors Club. The university received a prize of 1.025 million NT dollars from the Ministry of Education, ranking first nationwide. President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai of Asia University stated that the school has been encouraging students to participate in international competitions, securing the top spot in the higher education system for ten consecutive years. Asia University Secures 3 Silver, 4 Bronze, and 11 Honorable Mentions in the '2023 Sustainability Hackathon,' Totaling 18 Awards



Asia University's Office of Industry-Academia Collaboration organized the '2023 Sustainability Hackathon,' drawing participation from 35 universities and 1,281 students, forming 337 teams to tackle corporate challenges. The competition offered a total prize pool exceeding 600,000 NT dollars. In the final results, the Department of Interior Design, Psychology, and Business Administration from Asia University collectively secured 3 silver, 4 bronze, and 11 honorable mention awards, totaling 18 accolades, showcasing fruitful outcomes. Asia University's Food Safety and Inspection Center has once again received two '2023 Excelsior Award.'



Professor Yu-Cheng Chiang, Director of Asia University's Food Safety and Inspection Center, led a research team that clinched two " Excelsior Award " this year for their "Detection Chip" and "Temperature Control Chip" technologies. This marks the team's 10th award in five consecutive years. Asia University has been actively promoting AI education and research, yielding significant achievements in AI biotechnology and medical technology, accumulating a total of 16 "National Innovation Awards" and " Excelsior Award " over five years. Impressive Pass Rates for Asia University in 2023 National Licensing Examination, 10 Majors Above National Average Rates



Asia University's 2023 graduates have achieved high pass rates in national licensing examination, with all 10 majors surpassing the national average. Among them, audiologists at 93.33%, speech therapists at 91.18%, and nurses at 93.4%, all exceeding 90%. Yu-Kai Chang from the Department of Occupational Therapy topped the national rankings, while Cai-Li Weng from the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology secured the second position. Optometrists, veterinarian, occupational therapists, physical therapists, early childhood educators, and social workers also achieved pass rates well above the national average. President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University stated that after obtaining license, students possess strong employability, securing employment upon graduation, with an average monthly salary of over 50,000 NTD! Asia University has established the "AMD Logic and Computation Laboratory”



Faced with the wave of generative AI, Asia University has designated 2023 as the "Generative AI Year." On the 18th, Asia University President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai and Senior Vice President David Wang from the US-based AMD headquarters jointly unveiled the "AMD Logic and Computation Laboratory" at Asia University. President Tsai stated that Asia University will harness AMD's computational acceleration capabilities to advance collaborative research in integrative traditional Chinese medicine and genomics medicine with Harvard University in the United States. The AMD computing resources will also be used to support various AI-related courses offered by the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering. (more..)



 



Asia University collaborates with three universities in India to sign MOU, nurturing international semiconductor talent



Asia University has been invited to participate in the "Taiwan-India Semiconductor Talent Cultivation Exchange Program" organized by the Ministry of Education on 13th. Under the witness of Deputy Minister of Education Mon-Chi Lio and Professor Tarak, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education, Shian-Shyong Tseng, the Vice President and Dean of the College of Information and Electrical Engineering, signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of Asia University with the university heads of three Indian universities: SASTRA Deemed University, Medi-Caps University, and IES University, Bhopal These universities will send students to Asia University for internships, and Asia University will assist in nurturing semiconductor experts in India, thereby promoting the development of semiconductor manufacturing technology in the country. Dr. Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD in the United States, was conferred an honorary doctorate by Asia University, Taiwan. “I am honored to receive an honorary doctorate from Asia University,” said Dr. Lisa Su. “As an engineer at heart, I believe technology is critical to solving some of the most important challenges our world faces today.
