In the second phase of the Higher Education SPROT Project, the university's overarching goal is to "construct a sustainable university that nurtures interdisciplinary and cross-border talents." This includes five key areas: "Teaching Innovation, Social Responsibility, Industry Collaboration, Higher Education Accessibility, and Institutional Research." Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the program integrates various focal points to continuously implement the four major sustainability objectives: "Social Responsibility, Economic Development, Global Partnerships, and Ecological Environment." Furthermore, the program emphasizes stakeholder engagement and the identification of significant issues to support the university's efforts in advancing its plans and sustainable development.
Starting in 2023, in response to global and domestic development trends, the university has defined the key competencies required for future talents, focusing on "Self-directed Learning, Information Technology and Humanistic Care, Interdisciplinary Skills, Problem-solving, International Mobility, and Social Participation." Based on this, the first phase of the second stage of the program promotes four main strategies: "Smart Innovation x STEAM Interdisciplinary Digital Talent Development," "Breaking the Limits of Single Disciplines and Promoting Interdisciplinary Flexible Curricula," "Improving Internationalization Programs and Administrative Support Systems for International Collaboration," and "Building a Comprehensive Resilient and Smart Campus." These strategies align with the development of the five key areas of the program.
To showcase the results of the university's annual plans, a website for the Soochow University Higher Education Deepening Program has been established (https://sprout.scu.edu.tw/), featuring highlights of past achievements (https://sprout.scu.edu.tw/?page_id=248).
