1. Implement teaching innovation and improve teaching quality
- Cohesion of teaching and research consensus: provide rich teaching and research resources, plan more diverse teaching content and teaching methods, and complement each other with teaching and research, bringing rich learning content to students.
- Refining the basic ability and integrating professional practice: set up Buddhist scripture translation practice classes, continue to promote language teachers, and let students apply the Buddhist knowledge they usually learn to translation.
- Integration of human and social information, digital application of Buddhism: Professional digital humanities research teachers lead a group of digital teams to build a database of Buddhist scriptures, develop digital research tools, and guide students to conduct digital research papers on Buddhist scriptures.
2. Develop school characteristics
- Continuous Buddhist academic exchanges: The Buddhist Department of the school is a university with a complete academic system of the Department of Buddhist Studies in China. It actively promotes the development of digital education and research on Buddhism, and has established a number of foreign sister schools to promote mutual visits and student exchanges. Undertake international exchange lectures or conferences.
- Research resources continue to improve: the library of our school has a few high-quality and quantitative collections of Buddhist studies in Taiwan. Our school will continue to purchase books and borrow through inter-library cooperation to avoid overseas collection of materials or cross-international borrowing, providing researchers with convenience .
- Database construction and research method development: Since the establishment of the Buddhist Information Group, the school has actively carried out the construction of the Buddhist scripture database, and combined with relevant digital humanities technology to turn the database into a data-based, data-arranged, and scientific database. The search interface allows users to obtain research data according to their needs.
- Promotion of Zen culture: Provide channels for modern people to soothe their souls in their busy lives, allowing life to settle down and thoughts to relax.
3. Improve the publicity of higher education
- Sharing of digital resources and research tools: Provide academic institutions and the general public with free access to various databases and digital retrieval analysis tools developed by the school based on digital technology.
- School-running information disclosure: information is updated every year, and the "digital resources and research tool sharing" and "school-running information disclosure" are continuously used to promote information transparency and research resource sharing.
- Student life and learning support: provide students with applications for scholarships and grants inside and outside the school, free three meals, etc., to give credits the greatest convenience and care in their study and life. In addition, the Counseling Center also organizes group counseling workshops for students, providing spiritual guidance for students when they are hesitant, anxious, and emotionally unstable.
4. Fulfill social responsibility
- Improve community environmental protection awareness: plan beach cleaning, community environmental workshops, and lifelong learning workshops, and work with the community to discover the truth, goodness and beauty of the environment and ecology, enhance environmental protection awareness and create waste.
- Promoting local lifelong education: preparing for the certification application of "environmental education facilities and places", conducting environmental personnel training and related courses, and promoting from the inside out to achieve the school's social responsibility.
On February 25, 2022, the school sent the application materials for the establishment of environmental facilities, passed the written review on March 7, designed 2 teaching plans and trial teaching, completed the preliminary review on July 20, and received the correction notice on the 22nd of the same month. On the 28th, the supplementary materials for the certification of environmental education facilities were sent by letter, and the certification was obtained on December 15. Full-scale operation will begin in 2023.
On the basis of cross-disciplinary environmental education courses, our school has set up Fagu Mind Environmental Protection Education Garden (https://www.facebook.com/mlercee/), using the campus as an environmental education facility as one of the channels to practice this goal .
The campus planned in accordance with the spirit of "Nature and Environmental Protection" embodies the characteristics of environmental resources in four aspects: low environmental impact buildings, water and soil conservation, meditation trails, and Satoyama Initiative, which complement each other and bring out the best in each other. According to the characteristics of site resources, the garden develops three major themes of teaching plans: soil and water conservation, meditation trail, and Lishan initiative; and operates this garden from four aspects: curriculum plan, professional manpower, environmental resources and hardware facilities, and operation and management. The content of teaching and research in the field contributes to sustainable development in the field of environmental education.
