2022 Achievement Summary and Highlights
In order to cultivate students from T-shaped talents with solid foundations and innovative practical abilities, to π-shaped talents with interdisciplinary and multiple expertise, and to become the innovative ㄤ-shaped talents with the ability to participate in the upgrading and transformation of society's industries, our University promotes MIT CDIO + Stanford Design Thinking project-based learning teaching approach in the first phase of the Higher Education Sprout Project to deepen liberal education and professional education. The i.School has been established to integrate information education and artificial intelligence into all departments, and to develop students' interdisciplinary and real-world problem-solving skills through an innovative academic system, the cross-departmental s.School and d.School. We collaborate with internationally renowned universities to introduce exemplary educational models for innovative teaching and learning. The highlights of the program are as follows.
- Introduction of CDIO and Design Thinking learning system to emphasize "learning by doing". From freshman project + anchor course, and deep bowl projects to cross-semester graduation projects, we systematically cultivate students' creative thinking, integrated knowledge, hands-on implementations, and capabilities to solve complex problems. We have a 96.46% of freshmen enrollment rate in the 2022 academic year, the second-highest comprehensive private university enrollment rate, a 99.88% enrollment rate in daytime bachelor's degree programs, and a 96.27% retention rate, the fourth-highest in the nation. Our excellent student performance is listed as follows:
- First place in the AUO Field Innovation Application Category of the "2022 National Tertiary Institutions Information Application Service Innovation Competition". Students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science won NT$100,000 with the "AR-Span Multi-Screen Adaptive Display System" from 969 teams.
- Participated in the “2021 Macronix Golden Silicon Award - Semiconductor Design and Application Competition" and won Gold, Bronze, and Young Star prizes. Students from the Department of Automatic Control Engineering won $300,000, $80,000 and $200,000 from 255 teams.
- The student teams, "Dingdong~Please don't pass by my heart" and "Happy travel, the best way to travel around " of the Department of Transportation and Logistics, won first and second place in the "2020 Highway Public Transportation Planning Competition" student category and won $300,000 and $150,000 from 63 teams.
- “2019 FITI Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incentive Program" Entrepreneurial Excellence Award. The "Weather Forecast" team, which was formed by four interdisciplinary students, was awarded a $2 million prize, the only private university to receive the award.
2021 "Ministry of Education's Team for Promoting University Programming Teaching Program" "Particularly Excellent" model university. This is a recognition of the effectiveness of our University in promoting and implementing programming education.
The University Social Responsibility Center is committed to promoting sustainable development, integrating resources, working with the government, industry and community, leading students to implement industrial and social projects, and implementing university social responsibility.
The University was one of six universities to receive the 2022 National Sustainable Development Award from the Executive Yuan.
"Foresight" 2021 “USR Distinguished Program”. We were awarded the first prize in the Welfare Symbiosis category with the "University Companion to Rural Area".
The "CommonWealth USR College Citizenship Survey" has ranked us as the top private comprehensive university every year since 2019.
The International School of Technology and Management has achieved remarkable results, with a total of 343 students successfully articulating to overseas universities and 130 graduates obtaining 2+2 dual degrees, and gaining employment with well-known international companies such as Trend Micro, Hon Hai Precision, Vigor Technology, NetSol Technology, and Intel, and are well recognized by the companies.
The Board of Directors has injected resources to improve the campus environment to enhance the quality of teaching and continue to optimize the learning and innovation field.
