Project Highlights 2022

To comply with the global consensus of "2050 Net Zero Emissions," NCNU is dedicated to promoting the educational development with the goal of deep cultivation, carbon reduction and green energy. The common performance indicators and self-defined performance indicators in the first term of Higher Education Sprout Project were all achieved with 100% achievement, which shows our effort in engaging this project. In terms of the sustainable development, NCNU won the "National Sustainable Development Award in Education" from the National Sustainable Development Committee in 2022, affirming the school's goals of deepening, localization, and down-to-earth practice. 

From the perspective of international performance, NCNU ranks among the top 500 in the "World's Best Young Universities" in 2022. Among the 17 Taiwanese universities on the list, our school ranks in the top 10 in three subjects, including "cooperation project income", "international reputation", and "teaching reputation impact (1960-2021)”  In the ranking of “World’s Top 2% Scientists 2021”, NCNU has a total of 10 scientists on the list. As for the growth of students, according to the statistics of the University Selection and Admissions Committee, the number of applicants recommended by Multi-Star Project grows against the trend in 2022, with a total increase of 65 people, the number of high schools admitted increases from 166 to 184, and the student source expansion index increases by 11. %. 

In terms of personal application, the application for admission has also grown against the trend in 2022. The distribution rate of student enrollment is as high as 93.09%, which is an increase of 10.16% compared with 2021. It ranks fifth among the 68 participating universities. In addition, NCNU cooperates with the Sports Administration to establish the largest "Outdoor Exploration Education Center" in the central area to serve the schools of all levels and types in the central region and to fulfill the university social responsibility.

With plans to grow roots ever deeper across the Shui Sha Lian region surrounding the university campus, NCNU also has its eyes set on Southeast Asia for recruitment, exchanges, and partnerships, the highlights of Higher Education Sprout Project in NCNU from 2018 to 2022 are described as follows: 

1. Deep localization of Shui Sha Lian region:

(1) NCNU participates in the "TSAA Taiwan Sustainable Action Award" in 2022, and won the silver medal in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDGs 8 "Employment and Economic Growth" with "Industrial Innovation and human resource in Shui Sha Lian region ", and has long been assisting local industry development and talent cultivation in Shui Sha Lian region. 

  (2) NCNU is committed to improving local medical resources in rural areas, and has signed MOUs with Puli Christian Hospital and Puli Branch of Taichung Veterans General Hospital to jointly develop medical cooperation. With strong support, it has been approved by the Ministry of Education to set up the “Bachelor Program of Nursing” in 2023, with the view to cultivate more local nursing professionals. 

(3) NCNU integrates the entrepreneurial resources of indigenous youths in Taichung, Changhua, and Nantou region with industry, official and university. With the signing ceremony of the “Central District Original Youth Entrepreneurship Ecosystem” in 2022, we aim to establish a local indigenous youth entrepreneurship support system. Among which, " Rizin Stand Up Paddle Team” won outstanding team in the 2022 U-start Yuanyang project, and the highest bonus of NT900,000 prize in the second stage of venture capital.

 2. Favoring internationalization of Southeast Asia:

(1) Overseas community education is one of the founding purposes of NCNU. International students and overseas community students account for 30% of the total number of students in NCNU. In order to sustainably promote overseas community education, the “Overseas Community Affairs Research Center” is established in conjunction with the Department of Southeast Asian Studies in 2022

(2) In order to promote international exchanges, the school has signed a total of 160 international partner schools by 2022, and a total of 8 schools with a dual degree system, actively promoting the international mobility of teachers and students and enhancing international vision.
