The first phase of Chang Jung Christian University’s higher education sprout project is aimed at the overall goal of “locally engaged; globally connected, and becoming a leading university regarding social responsibility.” Through our quality faculty, flexible and innovative cross-disciplinary curriculum, and quality learning environment, we aim to nurture students' abilities and develop them into all-round talents. Student learning performances have improved significantly with the long-term funding of the higher education sprout project. In the second semester of 2021, an average of 65.3% of students were able to improve their learning outcomes after participating in the Deep Bowl and digital courses, with an average improvement of 76.8 points on the English test, a significant increase over last year’s results. The diversified and flexible innovative cross-curricular areas show 64% self-growth and 66% increase of independent learning motivation, which manifests that the cross-curricular courses help to improve students’ learning motivation and effectiveness. The following are the results and highlights of the four main axes of implementation:
I.Implementing Teaching Innovation and Improving Teaching Quality.
Through workshops and cross-disciplinary courses, students are encouraged to deepen their motivation and enhance their learning effectiveness, and to participate in external competitions. For instances: Finalist of 2022 Coding101 Programming Competition “Small Drones for Epidemic Prevention,” students from the department of health care administration were invited to share their experience at the National University Programming Conference, and the Honorable Mention Award of the International Virtual Human Hackathon Creation Contest; which shows that our students have actively participated in external competitions and won awards. Teachers are encouraged to refine their teaching energy through innovative teaching seminars, workshops and teacher community stimulation. This year, eight faculty members were approved for the Teaching Practice Research Program, and the enthusiasm and approval rate of the application for the Teaching Practice Research Program were slightly higher than last year.

II.Enhancing The Publicity of Higher Education.
To strengthen school governance, in addition to establishing an open platform for school affairs and financial information, we have continued to improve the effectiveness of school operation, which has been repeatedly recognized by the public. For examples, the only university institution in Taiwan to win the Gold Award for Best Environmental Practices at the Green Apple Awards, 2023 QS World University Rankings 801~1000, 2022 QS World University Star Rating with 5 stars, 2022 THE Impact Rankings 601-800, 2022 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 98, 2022 TCSA Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards Sustainability Report Award Gold Award in University Category, and 2022 GCSA Global Corporate Sustainability Awards Bronze Award for Sustainability Report; which is a recognition of the effectiveness of the university’s performance and sustainable development.III.Development of University Characteristics.
We are actively strengthening the cooperation with enterprises, deepening the industry-academia linkage, and working together to cultivate excellent talents for the industry.Including in The Innovation and Incubation Center is providing guidance to Wish(xingwanghongbei) to thrive in baking, and up to $500,000 in grants through the urban and rural special industries project guidance program. Strengthen the local cultural value of the Liugui and give new vitality to the merchants. Create a win-win industry-academia program with 6 projects and $8.59 million in government grants through 2022.At the international mobile level, two international students were selected as official participants of the “2041 Climate Force Antarctic Expedition” in 2022, representing Taiwan in an expedition to the Antarctic to make Taiwan visible to the world.

IV.Social Responsibility.
Changing the world through social enterprise actions and fulfilling the social responsibility of local care. In order to fulfill our social responsibility, we renewed the Memorandum of Understanding with the “Beautiful Gate Foundation For The Disabled” in Malaysia to continue to help the disadvantaged and promote the coffee industry in the hope of creating a multinational friendly industrial chain. In 2022, we will demonstrate our strong research and development achievements by developing a fast fermentation method for vanilla pods. In the same year, we participated in the BIO Asia-Taiwan exhibition and made a technical presentation. In addition, the University has been awarded the Green Purchasing Enterprise Award for five consecutive years, and green purchasing has been internalized into the campus culture, and we are committed to moving towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
