Asia University Received More Than 21 Million in MOE’s Study Abroad Grants for 2022

Asia University received an over twenty-one million (NT$) subsidy from the Ministry of Education, promoting studying abroad for college students. Asia Univ. leads the list in terms of the total amount of the grants awarded among 160 universities, both public and private for the past five consecutive years. Approximately 350 students can benefit from these subsidies and go abroad for semester exchanges and internships in the coming year. 

 


President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai of Asia University Invited to Give an Opening Remark at the 2022 International Conference on Advanced Biomedical Sciences

The 2nd International Conference on Advanced Biomedical Sciences (ICABS) 2022 was held by China Medical University and Asia University (China Asia Associated University) for 3 days starting from November 4. ICABS invited Dr. Michael Rosbash who is a Nobel Laureate, top international cancer scholars, members of the US National Academy of Medicine, 10 domestic experts, and 21 leading domestic and international scholars in the field of biomedical sciences to share their latest findings. Jeffrey J. P. Tsai, President of Asia University, was invited to give an opening remark on the use of AI, machine learning, and biomedical data science by Asia University’s research team in promoting cancer-related research, enabling early detection of cancers, and improving recovery rates.

 

Asia University Hosted the 22nd IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Bioengineering

Asia University hosted “The 22nd IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Bioengineering (IEEE BIBE)”, starting on November 7 for three consecutive days online. The conference invited six international and domestic domain experts to serve as keynote speakers, including Director Antonios G. Mikos of the Center for Engineering Complex Tissues under National Institutes of Health and the Center for Excellence in Tissue Engineering at Rice University. The conference received papers from twenty countries. After strict review by experts, it was a world-class bioengineering conference.

 

Asia University College of Management EMI Program

In 2021, the Ministry of Education selected the College of Management at Asia University (abbrev. AMC EMI) as the "Bilingual Key Cultivation Institute". For the coming five years, AMC EMI will implement the five-year bilingual subsidy program. AMC EMI has achieved fruitful results in just a few months: Based on the internal foreign instructor’s teaching evaluation, AMC EMI office implemented a comprehensive 40-course with full-English rubrics. The College of Management established the EMI office with software and hardware layout to better facilitate an all-English environment. The number of professors who have passed the training courses during winter and summer breaks is as high as 60, accounting for 83% of the total number of instructors among AMC.

 President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University was interviewed by Creative Director Fu-Yuan Hsiao Cheers Magazine. When he was asked about how the leader of a university responsible for talent cultivation should respond to the global talent shortage, President Tsai  responded that Asia University is dedicating its efforts to  becoming a world-class university and developing digital competence, competencies (soft skills) that  will last a lifetime, and ensuring they will not  be  displaced in the era of AI. 

 

AU and Delta Electronics Foundation Co-organize “Earth Pulsing – Nurturing Life Exhibition,” the First Exhibition to Use 100% Renewable Energy!

The exhibition is the first in Taiwan to combine ecology with art, and showed the epic ecological documentary “Planet Earth II” of BBC, as well as two 8K ecological documentaries produced by Delta Electronics that won gold awards at the 55th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival. 


105 Students from Asia University Won the Research Grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan

The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) just released the list of this year’s research grants for College Students and AU was listed as the No. 8th university in terms of the number of student projects among 160 universities in Taiwan. For the past six consecutive years, AU has had more than 100 student projects funded annually by the MOST, thereby encouraging and motivating AU undergraduates to do research under the guidance of their professors.

 

AU Held SDGs Forum

As an urgent response to the dire effects of global warming and climate change on human life, starting from January 2022, AU held a series of “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” lectures. For these lectures, Professor Jeffrey J.P. Tsai, President of Asia University, invited eight renowned and eminent scholars and specialists in this field to share their experiences and insights with AU faculty and staff. Moreover, AU also launched two workshops on March 29 and 30: “Corporate Sustainability Training Workshop” and “Net Zero Emissions Training Workshop,” for corporate decision makers and small and medium business owners to run their enterprises sustainably. President Tsai observed that AU has been keen and responsive to the environmental issues and now considers sustainable development as one of the long-term goals of university governance.

 

AU Held a Forum on NFT and the Metaverse

AU held a forum on “NFT and the Metaverse,” inviting eight specialists from industries, both domestic and international, to share their new ideas and findings in this field on February 15. Professor Jeffrey Tsai, the chair of the forum and President of Asia University, expressed his strong intention to boost the teaching and research of the metaverse by integrating academic research and industrial resources, in the hopes of cultivating future young talents in this cutting-edge technological development.
