I. Realization of teaching innovation and improvement of teaching quality
1. Implementing a university-wide investigation into the university affairs and the admission, curriculum, student affairs of each school and department to track its effectiveness. The tracking results aided the improvement of university operations, the establishment of specialized admission programs, the fostering of student employability, and the management and development of university affairs.
2. Advancing the acquisition of diverse competencies in teachers by providing financial support to 5 interdisciplinary growth communities and hosting 13 exchange events; supporting teachers in conducting pilot research project for teaching practices to encourage teachers’ dedication to teaching practice research and to facilitate the linkage between teachers’ research and students’ learning and cultivation.
3. Fostering students’ ability to integrate information technology and multimedia; developing four e-books on cancer prevention, metabolic syndrome, dementia prevention, and medication safety; and introducing courses for nursing practice and community health education.
4. Helping students build a habit of reading and develop basic writing skills; holding the National Quemoy University HERO Wind Lion Award for literature and photography; and producing online Mandarin self-learning materials for the culture of Kinmen.
5. Hosting 200 physical and virtual seminars for experts in the industry, government, and academia to improve and diversify students’ competencies and employability and to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice.
II. Development of the University’s characteristics
1. Holding courses, seminars and alumni meetings in ocean-related themes and establish interdisciplinary courses that integrate marine culture with literature.
2. Establishing sister school partnerships with schools and institutions that may benefit the promotion of the New Southbound Policy and implementing an international companions for learning project.
3. Establishing a liquor-making craft microprogram and a project studies course on liquor-making practices to provide technical support for the research and development of Kinmen’s local specialties and for the preservation of and investigation into liquor making, a cultural heritage of Kinmen.
4. Establishing an AI Robot Research Center and continuing to expand its scale; hosting AI experience camps and popular science events; and successfully completing the design of a VR-based firing ground simulation program for shooting training and a VR-based unmanned aerial vehicle simulation program for training and licensing examination.
5. Establishing the LineBot, an AI chatbot that doubles as an air quality monitoring system, to promote public engagement in green energy economy.
III. Enhancement of the publicness of higher education
1.Guaranteeing access to education for students from an indigenous background, with disabilities, or resided in remote areas or outlying islands. Students from low-income households, mid-to-low income households, and households in hardship are given priority in enrollment for the sake of educational equity and social equity.
2. Organizing 5 events on dietary self-care. Among the students attending these events, 355 were from an economically disadvantaged background.
3. Providing 133 health counseling sessions, 151 psychological counseling sessions, and 135 career planning counseling sessions one-on-one to students from an economically disadvantaged background as well as several group counseling sessions, which had a total of 101 participants.
4. Organizing 6 “Life is for ...” group art therapy events and 6 “I’m in NQU. Who am I? Come Meet Me!” group self-exploration events, which were joined by a total of 101 participants.
IV. Fulfillment of social responsibility
1. Organizing 4 cultural events; collecting 7116 books in both Chinese and foreign languages and 5 electronic databases to enrich the library resources of the University.
2.Organizing health promotion events for community-dwelling senior citizens, which attracted 290 participants, and a “A Day in the Life of a College Student” event for senior citizens.
3.Organizing 2 library volunteer training programs, with 25 trainees completing the training. Additionally, 6 volunteer teams have been dispatched to participate in volunteer works throughout the country.
4.Organizing 7 promotional workshops for robot application, attracting 164 students and 30 information technology teachers from 20 elementary schools and 5 junior high schools in Kinmen County.
