2021 Achievement Summary and Highlights
Our University adopts CDIO + Design Thinking project-based learning innovative teaching approach throughout professional and general education to cultivate T-shaped talents with solid foundations and innovative practical abilities. We also cultivate π-type talents with interdisciplinary and multiple expertise by our professional colleges, General Education Center, and inter-college organizations. The i.School provides students with innovative tools, application capabilities and practical fields. The d.School and the s.School provide projects related to industry and society, and train students to become ㄤ-shaped innovative talents required for industrial upgrading and transformation.
Introductionof CDIO and Design Thinking learning system to emphasize "learning by doing". Each department systematically cultivates students' creative thinking, integrated knowledge, hands-on implementations, and capabilities to solve complex problems from freshman project + anchor course, deep bowl projects to cross-semester graduation projects. Some outstanding student competition performances are listed below:
- Participated in the "2021 Macronix Golden Silicon Awards-Semiconductor Design and Application Competition" on August 31 and won three awards. Students from the Department of Automatic Control Engineering formed a team to compete and won the Gold Medal Award (NT$300,000), the Bronze Medal Award (NT$80,000) and the Young Star Award (NT$200,000) from 255 outstanding teams.
- Faculty members, Lin Ying-Chih and Chen Ting-Fu, from the Department of Applied Mathematics, led the students of the Master's degree in Data Science and the Department of Applied Mathematics to participate in the "2021 National Smart Manufacturing Big Data Analysis Competition" on November 27. The "IdealBoosting" team of our University won a special award and a prize of NT$100,000 from 118 teams.
- Students of the Department of Transportation and Logistics formed a team, "Passenger Transport Point to Point", to participate in the final of the "2021 Public Transport Planning Competition" on December 7. They won first place in the student category from 41 teams and a prize of NT$300,000. In addition, the "Follow me happiness, pear you are very close" team, which won first place in the student category two years ago, won the first prize in the application category and NT$100,000 for significant growth in the implementation of the program after analyzing the transportation volume before and after the implementation.
Implementation of the comprehensive promotion of programming education and achieving a 100% goal of the students to take basic programming courses in the 2020 academic year. In 2021, we are recognized as one of the seven "Ministry of Education Promoting University Program Design Teaching Program Team" model universities out of the 158 colleges and universities nationwide.
Integrate resources and cultivate the industry-academia alliance through the University Social Responsibility Center to serve as a foundation for our teachers and students to integrate with industry and society. Deepen the industry-academia alliance, work with the government, industry, and the community to lead students to execute industry and social topics, and implement the university social responsibility.
- “Foresight" magazine publicly solicits "USR Outstanding Projects" to review university social responsibility achievements. Feng Chia University won the first prize in the Welfare Symbiosis category in 2021 with the "University Companion to Rural Area".
The University has implemented 14 campus construction projects in recent years, committed to promoting interdisciplinary learning and cultivating talents who assist in industrial upgrading. The board of directors provides resources to improve the university environment to enhance teaching quality, continuously optimize the innovation fields of learning, and change the teaching and learning methods of teachers and students in the fields to show the spirit of sharing.
- "Cheers" magazine announced the "2021 University Performance Growth Top 20". Feng Chia University ranked third nationwide and ranked first among private universities in Taiwan for 7 consecutive years.
- "Foresight" magazine announced the "2021 Corporate Favorite University Student Rankings". Feng Chia University broke the dominance of the northern private universities and won first place in the private university category.
