- Perspective One [Course Teaching Opens New Prospects]
- Summary of Goal Achievement:
Subsidized professional advancement courses in 80 subject areas of 50 departments accumulatively, rewarded students with 4,115 professional licenses, encouraged the application of license classes, and obtained 4,469 licenses. The percentage of participating in the opening of capstone courses increased to 74%. In the academic year 2021, 48 career courses, 30 cross-field credit courses, 2 degree-courses, 8 micro-courses, 876 English-taught courses, and 91 classes of "Community Study and Practice" courses are opened. The number of students enrolled in cross-field courses reached 2,425, and 5,604 in the community learning and practical courses. The proportion of enrolling for programming courses (logical thinking and calculation) is 71.16%, and 64 students enrolled in the electives from the inter-school online course of the "Alliance of Excellent Long-Established University Consortium of Taiwan." In the academic year 2021, 215 and 496 applicants applied for double-major and minor departments respectively. The application mechanism for minor and double-major was revised to registration based, starting from the 2022 academic year. The number of teaching faculty communities reached 29 groups, with 247 members, and the number of inter-departmental teaching faculty communities reached 8 groups. The iClass learning platform has been used by more than 90% of full-time teaching faculties, and on average, utilized by more than 10,000 students daily.
- Highlights
The number of teaching practice research projects receiving subsidies from the Ministry of Education from the 2018-2021 academic year was 9, 28, 37, and 43, respectively, ranking first place nationwide in 2020. Made good use of the "Cultural and Creative Industry Learning Program Practice Base" to enable teaching faculties and students to resonate learning. Used iClass learning platform and MS Teams video software for remote learning to maintain the effectiveness of synchronized learning during the pandemic. Planned and advanced the MS Teams blackboard mode, supported admissions interviews and remote meetings, and supported remote working with Office 365. Developed the intelligent consulting system (Smart PASS) for student learning effectiveness, retrieved data from the iClass learning platform, constructed a data warehouse for relevant activity records for learning and teaching, created a visual interactive panel for statistical data, provided early warning of university performance and self-observation of curriculum management information analysis platform for teaching faculties to use.
II. Perspective Two [Globalization & Great Distancing Competition]
- Summary of Goal Achievement:
Accumulated a total of 241 international partnered institutions throughout 38 countries. Added 2 transnational dual-degree cooperation projects. The number of overseas students has reached 7.1% of the entire university. An English-taught online summer course "Sustainable Development—Taiwan and the World" were established, and the "Double Foreign Language Economics and Trade Talent Credit Course" was enrolled by 124 students. Organized the "2021 Diplomacy and National Security Decision-making Simulation Camp" and festival activities of different nations. Continued to implement the "Global-Local Action Practice Plan" (GLAP). Opened Microsoft certification online courses, and 760 people passed the assessment; 129 students and 139 faculties obtained the Microsoft international certification licenses. Awarded 366 papers published in journals. A total of 223 projects have been receiving subsidies from the Ministry of Science and Technology (including industry-academia projects). 54 faculties received research awards from the Ministry of Education. 60 research projects for college students were granted financial subsidies. A total of 24 cases passed the industry-academia research or industry-academia projects. The "Da Vinci Creation Base" held a total of 14 courses, lectures, and workshops. Won 4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze in the FIRA Roboworld Cup Competition.
- Highlights
Organized diplomatic and national security decision-making simulation camps to cultivate the international affairs ability of college students. Managed international celebration day activities and promote exchanges. The 5 groups of student communities in the "Global-Local Action Practice Project" won the "Excellent Youth" charity project held by the "Happy Recome Co. Ltd." The College Artificial Innovative Intelligence organized a "Reality Field" for students to experience. Provided students with more than 294 cloud AI-related courses, integrating the energy of teaching faculties and students’ research results. 21 teaching faculties were selected by Stanford University as the top 2% of scientists worldwide and ranked No. 13 among Taiwan universities. 14 faculties were nominated for the ranking of the 2020 Scientific Impact.
- Perspective Three [Higher Education Governance Opens Prosperity]
- Summary of Goal Achievement:
The "Career Advancement Award for Financially Disadvantaged Students" subsidized 98 people. The number of participants in professional knowledge service-learning courses increased to 9.00%. Provided customized individual tutoring, serving 33 people. Encouraging teaching and research activities, selected and rewarded excellent teaching faculties. Established University Affairs Research and Analysis Platform, emphasizing data support, and disclosed university-related information about the efficiency in school management. The Chinese Language Center promoted digital teaching, successfully transformed and achieved the goal of synchronizing virtual and reality teaching.
- Highlights
Provided time-flexible one-on-one or small-class individual tutoring and granted the opportunity to serve as tutoring assistants for students with excellent academic performance. The Center for Institutional Research built 28 visualization modules to improve the efficiency of administrative usage of institutional statistics, opened 11 institutional statistics data for faculty and staff to apply for usage, and completed 14 institutional research analyst reports. Enhanced the physical/online mixed teaching ability of Chinese language faculties, created TPACK professional teachers, completed 5 digital training workshops and 2 remote teacher training classes, trained 310 teachers, and offered online courses with a total of 149 classes to enroll 723 students.
- Perspective Four [Practice & Accomplish Mission Localization]
- Summary of Goal Achievement:
Combined the indicators of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as the development goals, promoted service-learning courses, chemistry vehicle science education, environmental education field certification, organized the functional training of visually impaired students and promoted the healthy and happy lifestyle of the elders, and experienced the course operation mode with professionals and partners. Connected teaching faculties and students, communities, enterprises, the government, and expanded the results of social practice.
- Highlights
Won four major awards of the 14th Taiwan Enterprise Sustainability Award of the Taiwan Energy Research Foundation - "Social Inclusion Award," "Sustainability Report Award," and the "Sustainable Development Goal Action Award." 88 professional knowledge service-learning courses opened; except the newly established Department of Artificial Innovative Intelligence in the 2021 academic year, the university has achieved the goal of offering the course in every department. The courses have cooperated with local educational institutions, non-profit organizations, communities, and other groups, and faculties and students worked together to use professional assistance in the local area. Through lively teaching methods such as lectures, performances, practical experience, and exploratory analysis experiments, popular science knowledge is introduced into the community and brought to life. Integrated cross-domain resources and continued to promote the enjoyable experience of chemistry tours, with a total of 625 activities held so far, which have been welcomed and affirmed by the public in primary and secondary schools along with the community. Connected with universities, primary and secondary schools, and foundations to discuss and propose solutions, and organized seminars based on SDG goals number 6 and 14. Assisted the elders within the community to maintain a good quality of life through a series of senior sports, health courses, and activities.
