Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU)’s sprout project target is to continue to move forward with the mission of “Locally Engaged; Globally Connected, A Leading University with Social Responsibility,” and to nurture students with cross-disciplinary expertise through quality faculties, diverse and innovative programs, and a comprehensive learning environment. This year, the impact of COVID-19 has affected some of the original implementation strategies, such as the internationalization of mobile, etc. Nevertheless, CJCU has initiated a strategy to respond to the situation, and with the funding of the sprout project, our students are still showing significant growth in learning outcomes. For example ,70% the improvement rate of English test scores, a slight increase compared to last year’s performance; 58% improvement in self-directed learning ;78% improvement in reading ability; and 94% improvement rate of counseling assignments by departmental teaching assistants. It is clear that the flipped teaching can stimulate students’ motivation and improve learning outcomes. The following are the results and highlights of the implementation of the four main axes.
1. Teaching Innovation Realization and Teaching Quality Improvement:
Through workshops, innovation, and creativity courses, and students are motivated to learn and enhance their learning effectiveness, and are encouraged to participate in the competition.Besides, students from the Department of Mass Communication won the special excellence of the 10th TBSA National College Innovation Plan Competition and a team of students from the Department of Health Care Administration won the Best Design Concept award in the National University Creative Marketing and Entrepreneurship Competition.In the aspect of faculty, through the stimulations between teaching and learning studies, workshops, and the faculty communities. In this year, 13 faculty members applied for the Teaching Practice Research Project, and a total of 3 were approved. Teachers who received grants in 2018 were publicly recognized by the Ministry of Education(MOE) as highlights of the project. Besides, two others have received project grants for three consecutive years.

2. The Higher Education Commonality:
To improve university governance, CJCU has not only established The Institutional Affairs and Financial Information Disclosure Platform but also worked hard to improve the effectiveness of school operation, which has received international recognition. CJCU was ranked 351-400 in the 2022 QS Asia University Rankings; won the Platinum Award of the fourteenth TCSA Sustainability Report Category; won the Green Leadership Category in Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards, and won the Golden and Silver Awards in Taiwan Sustainable Awards. Moreover, the College of Management is certified by AACSB and The School of Information and Design is accredited in IEET. It is evident that CJCU is operating at the level of a world university standard.
3.University Feature Development:
CJCU actively promotes industry-academia collaboration, and strengthens the connection between the chemical industry and the industrial sector to nurture industrial talents. For example, the Department of Green Energy and Environmental Resources and Bingjun Renewable Energy Technology Ltd. signed an industrial-academic cooperation project, hoping to create a joint performance of industrial-academic cooperation and enhance the practical ability of students of the Department. Besides, students from the Department of Green Energy and Environmental Resources won the Bronze Prize in the Climate Change Creative Writing Competition with the theme “Old- Flooding” and were awarded a cash prize of $30,000, the only private university among the winning teams. The student team of the Bachelor degree program in International Program for Sustainable Development (IPSD) won first place in the university group of the Taiwan Ocean Youth Forum - Ocean Crisis Action Final. Additionally, in the context of internationalization, CJCU has suspended the implementation of overseas internship activities in 2021, due to the global impact of COVID-19 . However, CJCU is still actively engaged in a dual contract with the American Theological Seminary for the Master of Divinity degree, expecting to enhance the international competitiveness and employability of our students and to obtain the Master of Divinity and Master of Moral Studies degrees at the same time.

4.Social Responsibility Practice:
By assisting the development of the local industry, the core concept of social enterprise is sustainable development, and the social responsibility of local care is realized, which including: Won the Silver Award in the Social Impact Category of the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Launching the Brown Sugar Beer and Herbal Essential Oil Protection Unit at 2021 Biotech Asia, which is the core goal of the company’s local presence. CJCU assisted the Beautiful Gate Foundation in Malaysia to establish a coffee brand with the aim of creating a multinational-friendly industry chain. In addition, CJCU was awarded the 2021 Green Purchasing Enterprise Award, which is based on the concept of environmental protection and energy conservation and carbon reduction, to carry out procurement matters to achieve green purchasing and fulfill the commitment of social responsibility. CJCU was also awarded The World Water Quality Monitoring Competition award, which shows that the river patrol team’s efforts are well recognized.
