Summary and highlights of the achievement of goals

The second phase (109-111) of our school project, with the theme of “Quick Sprout and Perfect Progression”, aims to deepen teacher training, implement curriculum modularization and streaming, and improve professional teachers' qualifications through strategies such as cross-domain learning, innovative curriculum design and teaching, tightening the linkage between researches, studies and industries, cultivating students' core competencies and citizenship, and developing teachers' suitable talents for professionalism and teaching, in order to achieve long-term success. Based on the existing excellent foundation of talent cultivation, we will continue to get rid of the stale and in with the fresh.

According to the aforementioned goals and strategies, the main achievements and five major highlights of the second phase are as follows:

  1. Learning value up and professional training.

    We established Course Program Centre to integrate programs and encourage students to enhance their interdisciplinary course learning. There were 11 programs and 5 microcredit courses last year and had been taken by 641 students.  Moreover, almost 50% of college students take both their major courses and teaching training courses.  It shows that interdisciplinary study has become trend in our school.  Meanwhile, department courses combined with colleges features enhance students’ practical skills, and made students create innovated performance in society communities. Thus, our students gained their professional experience throughout the practical training.

  2. Students’ practical training and good performance in Recruitment and assessment of school teacher.

    We performed 120 activities of Lesson Preparation, Observation, Briefing, and had workshops and teaching skill training programs according to the “teaching training passport”.  In addition, 141 lesson preparation and observation sessions were held, and the teacher training workshops and teaching practice certifications were conducted in accordance with the "Teacher Training Passport", with an overall pass rate of 93.44%.  The average passing rate of Recruitment and assessment of school teacher in our school is 30% higher than that in all country.  There were over 180 students in our school passed the Recruitment and assessment of school teacher interview every year.  In the last two years, there were 70 students out of 120 who graduated from our Department of Industrial Technology Education passed the Teacher Recruitment interview and became formal teachers.  Last year, there were 23 students from our school became formal teachers, and 5 graduates were admitted as publicly funded students at Taichung University of Education.  It is a great success in our teacher training.

  3. The cross-disciplinary linkage between industry and academia and the construction of smart campus.

    The purpose is to enhance the cooperation between academic, research, social welfare, and industry.  The main achievement is that we developed two products: “STEAM creative teaching aids and tea-flavored brew beer”.  We also started marketing the two products and tried to make our brand well-known.  Besides, we developed 43 systems and improved 81 systems in our big data collecting system to make our AI work more efficiently, and improved the whole school by dig data analysis.

  4. Providing resources to disadvantaged students and community welfare.

    The university will implement priority admissions, adjust admissions thresholds, provide application fee waivers and convenient transportation services, and assist high schools in offering seven courses (163 electives) in collaboration with various fields within the university, and provide literacy-oriented instruction and assessment and enrichment studies to establish reasonable admissions and selection targets. After enrolling in the school, we provide subsidies for academic grants, merit exams, professional certification exams, and awards for competitions outside of school to help students study with peace of mind; we also offer study and certification classes to enhance the professional skills of disadvantaged students and obtain licenses at the same time.

  5. Community care and curriculum practice.

Our school helped local communities develop feature industry combined with traditional ones. And we trained our students and encouraged them to work with the suburban and created the innovated industries.  For example, we cooperated with Chan Mom in Da-Shu district and developed “the miracle mulberry leaf tea”.  We also developed unique “TNS clay pot and clay cup” with San-Her bricks factory in Da-Shu district, helped design logo for Chi-May farm factory, and developed longan-pineapple tea (Long-Fon tea) with Yang-Guan-Guo-Tzu in Da-Shu district. 

 

According to the strategies above, we will work harder and plan more featured and organized projects to innovate our school and local society.
