Chang Jung Christian University’s Sprout Project goal aims to adhere to the motto of “Devotion, diligence, honor, and service” in Jesus Christ’s spirit to save the world and love human beings. With the support of the departmental teaching, administrative institution, and University affairs policy, Chang Jung Christian University provides high-quality professional faculties, diversified, innovative courses, and a perfect learning environment. By enhancing teaching-research energies, improving diversified teaching, implementing industry-academia cooperation, fostering international mobility ,and practicing social responsibility to fulfill university responsibility and cultivate students to become talents with cross-disciplinary abilities,the implementation results and highlights of the four main axes are described as follows:

A. Teaching Innovation Practice and Teaching Quality Promotion.

By offering an in-depth bowl course, programming design, and thematic practice, Chang Jung Christian University can deepen students’ learning ability and encourage those interested in competitions to broaden their vision and competitiveness. For instance, in 2020, the Mass Communication Department students won the 2019-2020 NISSAN-Innovation Award with LEAF For Change’s title -“Five Tigers Slaying Dragons.” They held a programming design cross-domain creative competition at the end of 2020. The participating teams cover different departments; students have demonstrated their creativity and practical abilities. After the competition, students who won the Gold Award actively participated in the 2021 Coding 101 cross-domain Coding competition.

B. The Higher Education Commonality Enhancement.

The disclosure of information mechanism and sustainable development reports publication makes the outsider realize the university’s performance, which has been recognized by the outside world. For example, Chang Jung Christian University ranked 401-450 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2021; won gold and bronze awards for 13th Best Sustainability Project Awards – University of the Best Practice Award and Corporate Sustainability Report Award.

C. University Feature Development.

Concerning industry-academia cooperation, University promoted industrial practice immersive course, guided students to explore through diversified teaching, and signed a board game design project with the Bureau of Public Works, Tainan City Government. To comply with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, University also organized 15 workshops in collaboration with Industrial Technology Research Institute. Throughout the participation of faculties and students in social enterprises, those can experience the Sustainable Development Goals effect. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the overseas internship activities were temporarily suspended, but University did not stop; instead, it launched internship columns on different topics every month. Based on the “two or three things about working in Japan that are not taught in School,” University invite experts to write about life and work experience in Japan to provide faculties and students with first-hand information, assist faculties and students in mastering the work culture of living in Japan and absorb predecessors’ experiences.

D. Social Responsibility Practice.

To strengthen the connection between University and the local community, Chang Jung Christian University takes action to execute social responsibility, activate social enterprises ,and create community development; including in ISE TALK (international social enterprise talk), the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and Beautiful Gate coffee brand establishment assistance in Malaysia.

To sum up, after sprout project expenditures funding, Chang Jung Christian University’s students have shown a significant trend of growth in their learning outcomes. Such as 95% of the disadvantaged students improved their grades after tutoring, 63% of the students have improved in English test scores, and 40% improved their independent learning and reading skills. In short, the flip education model can stimulate students’ learning motivation and improve their learning effectiveness.
